A Hollywood Trainer’s Advice on How to Teach Your Pet
Thank you for inviting me to your blog. It’s amazing how many pet owners really don’t have a clue how to care for their pets. That is why is wonderful what you’re doing. I would be honored to join you.

I have a special passion for explaining to owners new and old, what exactly their pet understands, and the human’s role in how they react.
Usually when I go to someone’s house to observe the naughty behavior that people are getting so frustrated with the pet over, I usually put the humans through an exercise. I use the terms, ‘good’ which means continue what I’m asking, and ‘OK’ which means stop you’ve completed what I wanted from you. ALL animals start to realize what these words actually mean. But, I do something a bit unconventional. I ask the owners to walk around the room , touch things bend down, and only with the words ‘good’ and ‘OK’, then they can follow my directions. This exercise actually helps pet owners to really understand how frustrating it is for the animal to understand at first, what the animal has to do to please the person asking for the particular behavior.
I have found this to be a very effective way to show humans how to truly understand the dynamics of training. People tend after this, to be more patient and look for other ways to get the behavior they are seeking. There are so many different ways to train, according to the animal. So if the human knows their animal, they should know what works and what doesn’t. What works for me with hands on, then training the animal, in conjunction with the human, my way of training works. However, over the internet, the pet owners have to be in sync with the pets dynamics.

I see so many questions asking ‘how to’ questions, and this is what I would advise. Please keep me posted and let me know what feedback you get from this method. Again, once the understanding of the animal is in place, then other training procedures can be endless!
